What does a Bloom Hearing test look like?

  • Consultation

We start discussing your hearing health history and concerns in detail.

Now is the time to bring up any concerns you have.

  • Otoscopy

    Visual examination of your ears.

We use an otoscope to look for any membrane perforations, scars, or potential causes for hearing loss.

  • Hearing Test

We test your ear drum pressure, your ability to hear different volumes and frequencies with and without background noise, and your speech recognition.

  • Findings and Plan

We will review the results and explain the test. Our clinician will offer individual advice and recommendations.

We encourage you to ask questions to get the best understanding of your hearing and solutions.

  • Book an appointment for a hearing test if you are curious about your hearing!

For individuals working in noisy environments, enjoy loud hobbies (concerts, shooting range, etc.), or have a family history of hearing loss, you can have hearing loss without knowing.

You can stay proactive with your hearing health by having a baseline idea of your hearing levels.

  • Conductive hearing loss (CHL) blocks sound in the outer/middle ear, making sounds muffled but often treatable with medicine/surgery. Typically CHL is caused by wax, infection, fluid, and eardrum perforation.

Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) damages the inner ear/nerve, affecting clarity and volume, and is permanent, requiring hearing aids or implants. Usually SNHL is caused by aging, loud noise, disease, and genetics.

  • Yes! Over time, there will be gradual damage and loss of the tiny sensory hair cells within the inner ear's cochlea. These hair cells convert sound vibrations into electrical signals sent to the brain and do not regenerate once damaged. As a result, age-related hearing loss is permanent.
