Limitations of hearing aids

As great as hearing aids are, they are not miracle devices!

They do not restore normal natural hearing. Hearing aids can amplify all sounds from your environment, including background noise. It also takes time to adjust and train your brain into listening to sounds its gotten use to missing.

Our clinician will be there every step of the way and provide counseling tools to ensure you have the greatest outcome with your hearing and hearing aids.

 FAQs

  • There is a tiny computer inside the hearing aid that is programmed to your hearing level. There are three essential parts: a microphone to capture sound and turn it into a digital signal, an amplifier to increase the volume, and a receiver to deliver the amplified sound into the ear.

  • Untreated hearing loss is linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and dementia. It also  affects your connections with loved ones. Take a proactive step toward protecting your brain health and relationships.

We offer complimentary hearing aid demos at our clinic. Schedule yours now to experience the technology!

  • Usually, hearing aids can last between 3-5 years. Proper maintenance helps ensure optimal performance.

  • Hearing aids cannot restore natural hearing. There are little hairs in the inner ear that pick up sound and once they break down, they cannot regenerate.

Hearing aids can slow the rate of deterioration of the little hairs inside the inner ear. Users can hear conversations and sounds that they previously missed and improve their quality of life through communication and stimulating the auditory nerves within the ear.

  • No, wearing hearing aids will not damage your hearing. Your clinician will program the sound output based on the hearing loss of the individual and their personal preference. We will ensure the sounds are comfortable for the user.

Any dangerously loud sounds can actually be suppressed in the hearing aid’s output.

  • It all depends on you! Unaddressed hearing loss can strain the ears and brain so early use of hearing aids is recommended.

For individuals with known hearing loss, just remember that hearing loss is permanent, as the hair cells cannot regenerate once damaged.

Hearing aids use amplification to help the remaining healthy hair cells function more effectively.
