Hearing Aids
-
Book an appointment for a hearing test if you are curious about your hearing!
For individuals working in noisy environments, enjoy loud hobbies (concerts, shooting range, etc.), or have a family history of hearing loss, you can have hearing loss without knowing.
You can stay proactive with your hearing health by having a baseline idea of your hearing levels.
-
The main causes of hearing loss are aging, loud noise exposure, genetics, infections, certain ototoxic medications, head injuries, and underlying health conditions (E.g. diabetes or heart disease).
-
Hearing aids allow users to hear conversations and sounds that they previously missed and improve their quality of life through communication and stimulating the auditory nerves within the ear.
Hearing aids, however, cannot restore natural hearing. There are little hairs in the inner ear that pick up sound and once they break down, they cannot regenerate. Hearing aids can slow the rate of deterioration of the little hairs inside the inner ear.
-
No, wearing hearing aids will not damage your hearing. Your clinician will program the sound output based on the hearing loss of the individual and their personal preference. We will ensure the sounds are comfortable for the user. Any dangerously loud sounds can actually be suppressed in the hearing aid’s output.
Hearing Aid Repairs
-
If your hearing aids do not turn on despite being fully charged or having a new battery, if you are hearing distorted and unclear sounds, or if you see physical damage, your hearing aids most likely need repairs. If you are unsure what the problem is, please book an appointment and our clinician can assess the hearing aid to see if repairs are needed.
-
Unfortunately, we won’t know until we inspect the device. Manufacturer warranty covers simple repairs but if your hearing aid is damaged extensively, you would need to check your Loss & Damage Warranty policy.
Warranty dates are provided on the invoice typically but if you are unsure, we can help you call the manufacturer to find the warranty dates and coverage.
